I have learned a lot from that experience, which is why I bring lots of empathy and patience to the table. The lessons I plan are built around your needs. We can work on pronunciation, on how to communicate with your in-laws, prepare you for daily life in Israel, for a job interview, or for an exam.
I also like literature, art, and any form of creative expression, which is why my lessons are full of drawings, games and small creative writing exercises. With kids especially, we draw and play our way through new vocabulary on screen. It keeps them engaged, and it keeps the words in their heads.

Hi, my name is Roni. I'm a Hebrew teacher, originally from Tel Aviv. I live in Berlin. Right now I'm actually traveling — I'm recording this video from Tirana, Albania. I really, really enjoy traveling. I really like learning new languages. I love learning about different cultures, and I enjoy meeting people from all over the world — which is actually why I decided I wanted to be a Hebrew teacher. I moved to Berlin and I learned German from scratch. That was extremely challenging. I ended up going to university and studying in German, but I do feel that these experiences and these struggles have helped me now as a teacher. I know what it's like to be on the other side. I know the struggles of learning a new language, and I bring lots of empathy and patience to the table. In 2023 I did the Hebrew as a foreign language teaching course, and since then I've been teaching adults privately online. I've also worked in a school, tutoring Hebrew with children, and I work as a translator as well, Hebrew to English. I have two degrees in literature and creative writing, so I feel like languages is really my passion. In my lessons I use a book, and I also use a presentation which I created myself. I try to add lots of visual aids, and sometimes I use songs. I really want the lessons to be fun. I think that when something is fun, we want to continue doing it, and that fun helps us persist. I teach all levels, and I will tailor a lesson according to your needs. So if you want to practice speaking or writing — whatever you want to put the emphasis on is up to you. Let me know. This is a page from a real lesson. Instead of copying a word list, we draw the thing and write it next to the picture, together, on a shared screen. Children remember חתול because they drew the cat.

Trial lesson
In the first lesson I assess your level, get to know you, and introduce myself and my teaching methods. I'll show you my teaching materials, tell you which ones to get, and share my own learning material with you.
Online lessons
Then the learning begins. Lessons are 60 minutes, with 25-minute lessons available for young children, on Zoom, Google Meet or Teams. Homework is optional, and the number of weekly lessons is up to you: your needs, your availability, your budget.
You start speaking
We start speaking from the very first moment, though I never push anyone. Everyone has their own pace: some prefer to speak early and make mistakes, others like to absorb the language first. Whichever you are, after a few months you'll find yourself having real conversations in Hebrew.

Do I need to know the Hebrew alphabet?
Nope. We can start from absolute zero, including 'which way does this letter face again.'
What languages do you teach in?
I teach in English (C2) and German (C1).
Online or in person?
Online only, on Google Meet, Teams or Zoom. That means we can work together from anywhere in the world.
How long until I can actually speak?
It really depends on how many lessons you take, but my approach is to try to have short dialogues right from the beginning. Usually after a few months we can start having very short conversations in Hebrew.
Do you teach kids?
Yes. I have experience as a Hebrew tutor at a school in Berlin, and I have been teaching children privately online as well. With kids I use a lot of drawing and games on screen to keep them engaged.
How much does it cost?
€45 for a 60-minute online lesson, one-on-one (about $50, or ₪150). Shorter 25-minute formats are available for younger children, just ask.
